How do you develop people? How do you grow leaders? I hear this often and thought I would share this simple but effective method I use when developing any person or team.
Locate. Plan. Equip.
1. Locate- Where are you?
Every Leadership Journey Starts with Self. Self Awareness is vital for gaining influence. Knowing your tendencies, interactions, and default behaviors provides valuable insight to function on a daily basis. Locating where you are is a critical first step.
2. Plan- Where are you going?
Now that you know where you are, you can decide where you want to go. This critical step identifies barriers, challenges, and obstacles you might encounter. This allows you to create a comprehensive plan that assures you arrive at your desired destination.
3. Equip- What do you need?
Along the journey, you will face anticipated and unforeseen challenges. Your success is based on your ability to adapt to and overcome these challenges. You must prepare and equip yourself with the necessary skills needed to achieve the best results.
